GardaĆ in Limerick have confirmed that a man aged in his 20s has sadly died following a swimming accident on Monday.
It is understood the man’s body was recovered from the River Shannon near Sarsfield House at approximately 6pm on Monday evening.
GardaĆ say the alarm was raised after the man got into difficulties whilst swimming with a friend in the Abbey River, near the Absolute Hotel, at approximately 1pm yesterday afternoon.
However following a widespread search by river rescue crews the man was tragically found a number of hours later.
