Gardaí in Co Waterford have confirmed that a man aged in his 40s has been arrested after he brandished a fake firearm at a busy hospital.
According to The Irish Mirror newspaper, the alarming incident occurred at Waterford University Hospital on Thursday at approximately 10am.
It is believed the man who has been released from custody, brandished the fake gun at a doctor and nurse working at the hospital.
Although it is not known what the man motives were, the Mirror say he was stopped in his tracks when a brave nurse tackled him to the ground.
The man was then arrested by Gardai a short time later.
Gardaí investigating the incident have since confirmed that a file for the Director of public prosecutions.
