Gardai say a man has been arrested at Shannon Airport after the flight he was on was diverted there earlier this evening.
The man is understood to have been on Norwegian flight 7045 which was en route from London Gatwick to Fort Lauderdale in Florida when they were suddenly forced to make a u-turn over the Atlantic. It is then believed that the onboard crew contacted the airport requesting that authorities meet the aircraft on the runway at approximately 6pm this evening. Gardai have confirmed that a 28-year-old man was removed from the plane once it had landed and has been taken to Shannon garda station for questioning.
It is thought that airline was about an hour into it’s journey when it had to be diverted. Gardai have revealed that the man is being questioning for being intoxicated and causing a disturbance by engaging in threatening behaviour. It is fully expected that the man will charged and appear in court in tomorrow morning.
