Gardai in Dublin have begun an investigation after a man was seriously injured following an alleged assault.
It is understood that the man aged in his 60s, was seriously injured after he was attacked by a number of people on Fairview Strand on Monday evening.
Gardai say the injured man was taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment.
They also say a man aged in his 20s has been arrested in connection with the incident and was taken to Clontarf Garda Station for questioning.
