Man charged with Adrian Folan’s murder

A man has been charged with the murder of Adrian Folan, whose body was found in a quarry near Liscannor in Co Clare yesterday.

40 year old Declan Ó Cualain (Folan), originally from Cuileán, An Cheathrú Rua, Co Galway, was brought before Galway District Court this evening.

Mr Ó Cualain has been remanded in custody to appear before Harristown District Court next Friday morning.

Mr Folan, who had been missing since last week was found yesterday morning in quarry Liscannor Co Clare.

A post-mortem examination has since been carried out on Mr Folan’s body by the State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy, at University Hospital Limerick last night.

Gardaí are refusing to release the results, for what they say are “operational reasons”, but it is understood that Adrian (41) suffered a violent death.

The family of the Carraroe, Co Galway, native has asked for their  privacy at this difficult time.
