Man gets caught jet-washing dog at Cork petrol station and gets reported to gardai

A man has been reported to Gardai after he was allegedly caught on video using a power washer on a helpless dog writhing in pain at a Cork petrol station.

The man using the powerwasher was confronted by a shocked bystander, who videotaped the incident, which has since been brought to the attention of authorities, reports The Mirror.

Cork Beo reported that shocking video was circulating online showing a man applying a hose to a dog at an Inver petrol station in Bishopstown last Friday.

The dog, who can be heard howling and trying to protect itself from the force of the hose, is followed by the man who continues to wash the animal.

One animal rights group said: “The chemicals alone that could burn into his skin is so dangerous – such a horrific traumatic thing to inflict on this poor dog,” reports The Mirror.

They also claimed that the person who took the video confronted the man but was yelled at by the man, who allegedly had a baseball bat out, as the fight escalated.

The incident was reported to Togher’s Gardai, reports The Mirror.

In an update this Wednesday afternoon, Gardaí confirmed they are aware of a report of an incident involving a dog that took place in the Bishopstown area last Friday.

“Local Gardaí have spoken with a witness in the past hour and are asking anyone else that witnessed it to please contact the station,” a spokesperson said, reports The Mirror.

The animal rights charity added: “We are asking if you’re local to this area and you witnessed this, please call this station regarding this cruel incident (021) 494 7120,” reports The Mirror.
