A man in his 20s had to be rushed to hospital after sustaining serious stabbing injuries during an assault in Galway city overnight.

It is understood that the incident happened on St. Francis Street at around 3.30am today.
The victim was taken to University Hospital Galway for treatment. His injuries are described as ‘serious’ but not life-threatening.
