A man, believed to be in his 50s, is in hospital with serious head injuries today after an assault in Limerick city yesterday evening.
It is understood that two men got into an altercation in the Lord Edward St. area of the city, at around 7.45pm last night.
The man was rushed to University Hospital Limerick, and has since been moved to Cork University Hospital.
The attacker fled the scene. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them on (061) 214340, or the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111.
