A man was sentenced for threatening to send his ex-partner’s mother private photos he posted on Facebook, reports Breaking News.
To preserve the privacy of his victim, the 45-year-old, who will remain nameless, entered a guilty plea to the charge of threatening to publish or disseminate a private photograph with the intention of causing injury on a date in December 2021. Seven years is the maximum punishment applicable to this crime.
The woman ended her brief connection with the man in November 2021, according to testimony given before the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reports Breaking News.
The victim, who was in her 20s, was aware that the man possessed several private photos and videos of her.
A few weeks after the breakup, on December 8, 2021, the man threatened to distribute a number of audio recordings to individuals she knew, including her mother and social worker, over Snapchat. The court heard that he also threatened to share the photos on Facebook.
Prosecuting solicitors were informed by an investigating garda that the woman proceeded straight to a Garda station to file a complaint. Shortly after, the man was found by Dublin’s Gardaà at a pub, reports Breaking News.
During the gardaà questioning, the man admitted to drinking and becoming irritated. He expressed regret for his acts as well.
