Man released without charge after young girl gets badly injured after being struck hard by e-bike in Dublin

A man who had been arrested after a young girl was hit by an e-bike in Dublin on Sunday evening — an incident that left her seriously injured in hospital — has now been released without charge, reports RTE.

Gardaí have confirmed that a file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for further consideration.

The incident occurred at Curragh Hall in Tyrellstown shortly after 8.20pm, reports RTE.

The four-year-old girl was hit by what gardaí described as a “Surron type e-bike”, which left the scene and did not return.

She was taken to Children’s Health Ireland at Temple Street, where she is currently receiving treatment for serious injuries, reports RTE.

Gardaí are now appealing to any witnesses, especially anyone who may have seen a Surron type e-bike in the area at any time on Sunday.

They are also asking anyone with camera recordings (including dash-cam) who was in Tyrellstown — particularly around Curragh Hall Crescent — between 7.30pm and 8.30pm to share any relevant footage, reports RTE.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on (01) 666 7000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any local garda station.
