36-year-old Georgia man Justin Ross Harris has been handed down a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, after being convicted of leaving his 22-month-old son Cooper to die inside a hot car.
Harris alleged that he had driven straight to work on the day of the incident, forgetting to drop his son at daycare. The toddler was left strapped to his seat in the back of Harris’ SUV for about seven hours.
He was also found to have been flirting with women other than his wife while online, and sending sexually explicit texts to an underage girl.
The jury convicted Harris of murder with malice, and the judge handed down a life sentence.
