After tripping and injuring his left foot while crossing a road in Cobh six years ago, the man has filed a High Court lawsuit against Cork County Council, saying that the agony has persisted ever since, reports Breaking News.
According to Brian O’Donovan, who requested that a court determine compensation, he later developed complex regional pain syndrome, a chronic pain disease, and his left ankle and foot discomfort have gotten worse and are ongoing.
In addition to damages for lost opportunities, the Cork computer technician’s significant claim included €480 per month for hydrotherapy treatment and €26,000 for an automated automobile since he gets pains when driving a manual, reports Breaking News.
At one point, Ms. Justice Reynolds said that she was caught off guard and that the “concept of duty to mitigate one’s losses” was being totally disregarded in the case. She also heard that Mr. O’Donovan from Glanmire, Co Cork, was requesting €40 per month so that a man can trim his lawn for the rest of his life.
On August 25, 2018, a 54-year-old man from Glyntwon, Glanmire, filed a lawsuit against Cork County Council for allegedly causing a fall on an uneven road surface close to the intersection of East Beach and Lynch’s Quay in Cobh.
His attorney, Elizabeth O’Connell SC, opened the case by stating that Mr. O’Donovan crawled to the side of the road and was taken by ambulance to the hospital, reports Breaking News.
She stated that Mr. O’Donovan spent seven days in the hospital in November of that year after developing a blood clot, which was thought to be caused by his immobilisation following the accident.
Counsel stated that responsibility was acknowledged in the matter that was brought before the court solely to determine damages.
According to her, Mr. O’Donovan has a limp and discomfort all the time, and the injury has affected him greatly, reports Breaking News.
