There are reports this evening that the father and younger brother of Salman Abedi, the young man suspected to have carried out the deadly bombing at Manchester Arena, have been arrested in the Lybian capital, Tripoli.
Hashem Abedi, Salman’s younger brother, was allegedly ‘aware of all the details’ regarding the impending attack, according to counter-terrorism services in Lybia. Hashem was arrested the day after the deadly bombing that left 22 people dead, many of them children and teenagers, and dozens more injured.
According to local law enforcement agencies in Lybia, Hashem did admit that his brother ‘had links with IS.’
Meanwhile, Ramadan Abedi -Salman’s father- claimed that his son was ‘innocent’. Despite the claims, it later emerged that Ramadan himself had links to extremist organizations.
Ismail Abedi, Salman’s older brother, is also in custody after being apprehended during a raid on his home on Tuesday.
There has been widesprad condemnation about the savage attack.
Many of the victims remain in hospital.
