“Many pubs will close” – Publicans angered as Martin cannot rule out that pubs might remain closed for the remainder of 2020




Publicans have voiced their concerns that pubs possibly may not reopen in 2020 at all as a result of the global pandemic.

The Liberal spoke to one publican who claims that many pubs across Ireland will never reopen as a result of their closure for the past 5 months.

It’s not looking as though we’ll be meeting our friends for a pint anytime soon.

Newly appointed Taoiseach Micheal Martin cannot rule out that pubs might remain closed for the remainder of the year.

In a further blow to the hospitality industry, pubs that serve food and restaurants will need to close by 11pm, following a meeting of Cabinet ministers today. During the meeting, it was decided that Ireland would not move to Phase 4 of lockdown easing just yet.

Covid-19 has killed 1,763 people in Ireland so far.
