The Marriage Bill has been signed in to law.
The Act which gives full marital rights was signed by The Presidential Commission on behalf of President Michael D Higgins who is currently in The United States.
A commencement order is to be granted by the Minister for Justice which is expected to take place in the next few days.
Marriages are expected to begin in mid November.
