The government has announced plans to reopen the country over Christmas by easing restrictions on travel and indoor meals and increasing the use of face masks.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin said that the government couldn’t reopen so-called wet pubs but that gastro pubs and restaurants are getting the green light.
The Ministers emphasized that members of the public assume their personal responsibilities and embraced the message that “every contact counts.”
Restaurants and pubs that function with restaurants may reopen for indoor dining starting next Friday with additional restrictions.
People can stay for up to one hour and 45 minutes, but longer if tables are more than two meters apart.
Inter-country travel can only start happening from December 18th. Publicans are said to be angered at the result of not being allowed open their premises for the festive season.
