Martin O’Neill says: “We might only have one chance with Italy, and one might just be enough”

After the absolute trouncing we got yesterday at the hands of Belgium, a dejected Irish camp are trying to get themselves up and going and ready for Wednesday’s match against Italy.
Ireland manager Martin O’Neill said:
“I don’t know what Italy might do or what they are thinking. What I do know is what we’ll do ourselves.
We have to win that game and that’s our only thought. It’s a game we have to win and we must throw absolutely everything into it.”

“Today we were beaten by a better team and we just have to take our medicine and prepare for the next game.”

“There are two ways of looking at it – you can start to feel very sorry for yourself and commiserate with team-mates and feel it’s gone.

But you also have to take some self confidence from how you played earlier in the week and take it into the next game.”

“The most important thing is to try and put it to the side. It’s never easy to just dismiss it, but it’s important to push it to the side and win the next game.”
