Martin says the video of Leo Varadkar kissing in a nightclub is a breach of privacy

Taoiseach Micheál Martin said a video of Tánaiste Leo Varadkar socializing in a Dublin nightclub was an “breach of privacy” and dismissed recent media reports of concerns over the matter.

Speaking to Newstalk, he said: “I think, first of all, Leo Varadkar’s life, my life, everyone’s private life is their private life and I do not in any shape or form condone any breach of that privacy. I think it is wrong, in my view, to be breaching that privacy in terms of filming people in a social context,” reports RTE.

He said he did not think there was “the degree of concern that is being suggested” in relation to the incident by recent media reports surrounding Leinster House.

Asked at a press conference on the IDA’s annual results on reported concerns about “errors of judgement”, Varadkar said: “I’m confident in my judgement and that I have support of my parliamentary party and other members of the coalition Government and that will be decided on Saturday. I’ve had the privilege to be in the Dáil since 2007 and in Government for about for 12 years,” reports RTE.
