Martin: There has been a major overreaction to the new pub and restaurant regulations

The Taoiseach Micheal Martin has been accused by social media users as denouncing their concerns after he said that there has been a major overreaction to the new regulations for pubs and restaurants.

According to RTE, Martin said that the regulations were in place and the government has no interest in knowing what people are eating in bars or restaurants.

Many publicians and restuarants owners have been saying that the new 28 day regulations are utterly ludicirous.

Martin said: “We now have guidance on how to enable all pubs to reopen and when they do the new regulation becomes redundant,”.

“We want the pubs to reopen. We want people to be back at matches again in reasonable numbers. All of that will form the wider plan on how we deal with Covid over the next 9-12 months,”

Perhaps frightening to hear from some, Martin said: “There are limits to how you regulate human behaviour.”
