The Minister for Arts, Media and Sport Patrick O’Donovan did not attend today’s Cabinet meeting as he recovers following a spell in hospital in Brussels last week.
Mr O’Donovan returned to Ireland on Friday night and is now recuperating at home with his family in west Limerick, reports RTE.
A Government spokesperson described the minister’s condition as “stable” but said he requires “ongoing medical management.”
They said no further comment would be issued at this point and they do not want to pre-empt when he might return to work, reports RTE.
Mr O’Donovan became unwell last Tuesday night and was taken to hospital in the Belgian capital.
He remained under close medical supervision for several days, reports RTE.
The minister was in Brussels for a series of events as part of Ireland’s presidency of the EU.
