Mary Lou McDonald accused both Fianna Fail and Fine Gael of creating the homeless crisis

Sinn Fein’s Mary Lou McDonald then accused both Fianna Fail and Fine Gael of creating the homeless crisis.

With over 10,300 Irish people sleeping on park benches, shop doorways and hotel rooms around the country, the out of control homeless crisis is at the centre of the election cycle.

In last night’s leaders’ debate, Sinn Fein’s Mary Lou McDonald came under fire from both Leo Varadkar and Micheal Martin but in turn accused both Fianna Fail and Fine Gael of creating the homeless crisis over the past number of years.

McDonald said that the decision taken at highest level was that the private market was going to deal with houses.

McDonald said that she was going to freeze rents and said that it will be time bound for 3 years.
