Mary Lou wants Sinn Fein in govt in the north and south in 2024

The president of Sinn Féin, Mary-Lou McDonald, has stated that her party is aiming to be in power in both northern and southern Ireland in 2024, reports Breaking News.

The next general election in Ireland is expected to be held towards the end of this year, with voters set to participate in European and local government elections in June.

In the previous general election held in January 2020, Sinn Féin secured 37 seats, while Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael, with 38 and 35 seats respectively, formed a coalition with the Green Party to govern.

“The election is fast approaching and the people give us the opportunity to lead,” Ms McDonald said, reports Breaking News.

“Sinn Féin will make housing the number one priority of a new government – not only in words but in actions and in results. By reducing rents and delivering the largest social and affordable house building programme in the history of the state. That is the level of action needed to match the scale of the challenge people face,” she added, reports Breaking News.
