Masks usage could have detrimental effect on speech and language development of children and babies, claims experts

Experts are concerned that the widespread use of masks are harming the development of babies and infants.

Scientific American reports that numerous studies have shown that babies and young children attach meaning to expressions and this in turn helps them develop not only speech but social cues and emotional intelligence.

With many countries mandating mask usage in public spaces, infants and young children are seeing their development being stunted by this effort designed to combat the Chinese virus.

Scientific American notes that in order to figure out which face goes with which voice; babies must learn that the mouth is the source of spoken language and that looking at the mouth is essential for figuring out whether a particular person’s face goes with a particular voice.
