The future of Martin O’Neill has seemingly been resolved over the past few days as the Republic of Ireland’s national soccer team manager confirmed that he will sign a two year contract extension with the FAI.
O’Neill who was heavily linked with the vacant manger’s position with English Premier League side Stoke City, confirmed on Tuesday evening that he is more than happy to stay on as the Irish boss.
In an announcement via the FAI’s Twitter page O’Neill said the situation regarding his two year contract extension has been resolved and he will sign it once his and the FAI’s legal representatives review it’s contents.
The long running saga which began last October will now see O’Neill lead the boys in green until 2020 following the next European Championships.
It is expected O’Neill will sign the contract in the coming weeks ahead.
