Sergeant Maurice McCabe has said his family strongly opposes a private inquiry to the entire debacle that has emerged, including false sexual abuse allegations made against him.
The McCabe family said:
“The truth has now emerged of false and shocking campaign to vilify them and there is no need to have a private enquiry.”
The Garda Commissioner has said she will not be standing down over the debacle because she denies knowing anything about the false allegations made against him.
