McDonald Tanaiste no confidence vote is not about points scoring

The Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald has said the party’s decision to submit a motion of no confidence in the Tanaiste Leo Varadkar is not about point scoring.

Speaking to RTE’s This Week in Politics programme, McDonald said that her party doesn’t accept the Tanaiste’s version of events as they are implausible and inaccurate.

She also stated that the Tanaiste’s decision to leak a confidential document to the National Association of General Practitioners was an example of claustrophobic, entitled, obnoxious politics.

The Sinn Fein leader said the party’s decision to submit the no confidence vote was a serious act and simply isn’t about scoring points against those in government.
