The relatively newly appointed Sinn Fein President Mary Lou McDonald may well be squeaky in her seat very soon if this local election results prove similar to a General Election.
Sinn Fein got hammered in Dublin’s north inner city, an area that McDonald herself canvassed for years.
It looks likely that they’ll be one of the big losers this weekend with the Green Party picking up the majority of their seats.
It’s not yet known but it looks more likely after this election that a General Election will happen sometime in the Spring of 2020 and that will tell the real story of the state of play for all parties and their leaders.
