McDonald’s slightly in trouble after middle east backlash for giving out free food to Israeli soliders

The war in Gaza caused McDonald’s to lose sales in several areas, capping an incredible year for the fast food chain, reports Breaking News.

According to FactSet’s survey of analysts, global same-store sales, or sales at restaurants that have been operating for at least a year, increased 3.4% in the last quarter of the year, far less than the 4.7% gain that Wall Street had anticipated.

Middle Eastern customers were incensed when McDonald’s Israel, a nearby franchisee, said in October that it was giving Israeli military free lunches.

Some franchisees responded by announcing donations to the Gaza assistance operations, including McDonald’s Oman, reports Breaking News.

Chris Kempczinski, the president and CEO of McDonald’s, issued a warning last month about the harm that “misinformation” was causing in the Middle East and other regions, reports Breaking News.

McDonald’s has experienced temporary store hours limitations or site closures as a result of demonstrations, in addition to customer boycotts.

“We abhor violence of any kind and firmly stand against hate speech, and we will always proudly open our doors to anyone,” Mr Kempczinski said in a LinkedIn post, reports Breaking News.
