Helen McEntee, the minister of justice, has denounced “criminal acts of arson” with conviction and urged anybody with knowledge of previous occurrences or “possible upcoming threats” to get in touch with the gardaí, reports Independent.
In a statement this afternoon, Ms. McEntee stated that she has informed Garda Commissioner Drew Harris that all resources needed will be provided. She has been in continuous communication with him.
“People need to understand these are very serious crimes which carry heavy prison sentences and those who have carried them out will be brought to justice,” she said, reports Independent.
“An Garda Síochána is doing everything possible to investigate recent acts of arson. I understand they are making good progress in their investigations and I encourage anyone with any information in relation to any of the incidents to contact them,” she added, reports Independent.
