Rafael dos Anjos has been forced to pull out of next week’s long-awaited UFC 196 main event against Conor McGrefor.

Dos Anjos suffered a broken foot last week’s and has been forced to pull out of the lightweight final against the Notorious as a result. The UFC is working tirelessly to find a suitable replacement on less than two weeks notice, but nothing is final.

The news follows similar events just last year when Jose Aldo withdrew from his fight in UFC 189 just eleven days before he was due to fight McGregor. This marks the fourth time in McGregor’s career that his original opponent has had to pull out last minute.

If a suitable opponent cannot be found, McGregor’s fight to make history may be diverted as he was one victory away from being the first fighter to hold two belts at the same time.
