Ireland’s ‘mini-heatwave’ looks set to persist through the weekend and into the early part of next week, reports The Mirror.
Forecasters at Met Éireann have confirmed that the fine weather will continue over the coming days, bringing plenty of sunshine and temperatures climbing into the high teens or low twenties. Early signs also indicate these warm conditions could extend into next week.
Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather told his followers that current weather models predict that the pleasant temperatures are likely to continue for the foreseeable future. However, some long-term forecasts suggest rain could return around May 24 or 25, reports The Mirror.
He said: “Glorious Thursday morning. Now, looking at the latest weather models, we’re going to see lots of sunshine into the weekend and into the early days of next week. Small chance of a shower possibly popping up in the south, Monday, Tuesday but doesn’t look that likely. Then it gets a lot more uncertain as we go through next week, so Wednesday, Thursday we will see a risk of some showers, on some of the weather models, but many of them keep it dry,” reports The Mirror.
He added: “If we look at the longer term. Now these are not very reliable, but just to give you an idea, the ECMWF does what’s called weekly mean anomalies. Which means basically, on average is that week going to be drier or wetter than average? So we can see at present, much drier than average as we can expect for the next week. However, the last week of May and the first week of June it’s shown wetter than average weather, doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed to happen but it is looking more likely that we will see a breakdown, probably around the 24th/25th, but a little bit uncertain yet,” reports The Mirror.
Met Éireann’s forecast for the week ahead is as follows:
Thursday
