Met Eireann is this morning forecasting the return of freezing conditions by the end of next week, with temperatures plunging to -8C at times.
According to the national forecaster, the latest weather models show an unwelcome return of wintry conditions.
In the meantime, the Bank Holiday weekend is expected to be rather unsettled weather wise, with frequent outbreaks of drizzle and more persistent rain at times, with highest temperatures of 12-13C.
