After days of wet and unsettled conditions, Met Éireann is forecasting a welcome return of sunshine this weekend, with Saturday shaping up to bring widespread dry conditions and sunny spells to much of the country.
The national forecaster said it will become “generally warmer and drier with spells of hazy sunshine,” though “lingering light rain and drizzle will affect northern counties,” reports The Mirror.

Today is expected to be a washout for many, with dull and wet weather dominating as widespread rain moves across the country with some heavy bursts at times, while Friday will begin mostly cloudy and breezy with patchy light rain or drizzle in coastal areas before brighter conditions develop later in the day — particularly across eastern and southeastern counties where highs of up to 20C are possible, reports The Mirror.
Saturday looks set to deliver the biggest turnaround, with the forecaster saying it will be dry for most areas with spells of hazy sunshine and temperatures of up to 22C, though a few light showers will affect northern counties.
The settled spell is expected to continue into Sunday, with more dry weather, sunshine and temperatures of up to 23C, and Met Éireann’s weekly outlook suggests the warm conditions could extend into the start of next week before Atlantic weather systems return, reports The Mirror.
