We may be enjoying the sunshine this bank holiday weekend as we venture outdoors but hayfever sufferers have been urged to take extra precautions as the recent dry weather spell has seen the pollen count significantly rise.

Although the good weather may not last for very long, Met Eireann have issued a yellow status warning as a high pollen count is expected over the next month.

Those who suffer from the conditions are being advised to take their prescribed medication regularly as the national forecaster say levels will be particularly high for the coming weeks ahead.

Although hayfever is easily managed, it can be particularly daunting as the condition can cause a number of symptoms including headaches, runny or blocked nose, itchy eyes and ears and in some cases swelling to the face.
