Met Eireann issue two yellow status weather warnings as the West is set to be battered with strong winds and heavy rain this weekend




Met Éireann have issued two yellow status weather warnings as the West of Ireland is set to be battered with strong winds heavy rain this weekend.

The warnings which came into effect at 7am this morning come as high winds reaching 65km/h along with gusts reaching 100km/h are expected to hit the West Coast throughout the weekend.

Met Éireann say the wind warning will remain in place for counties Donegal, Galway, Mayo and Kerry, until 3am on Sunday morning.

Meanwhile a separate rain warning has been put in place counties Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork and Kerry as 25mm to 45mm is expected to fall over the next 24 hours.

Met Éireann say that particular warning will remain in place until 6pm Sunday evening.
