Met Eireann has issued Orange and Yellow weather warnings ahead of the arrival of Storm Atiyah.
The weather system is expected to hit Ireland later this evening, bringing winds of up to 130km/h.
The national forecaster has warned of a strong possibility of coastal flooding due to the combination of high seas and storm surges. Consequently, people are strongly advised to avoid coastal areas over the next 48h.
The warnings will remain in place until Monday at 6am.
