Met Eireann issues Status Orange warning for heavy rainfall affecting 13 counties




Met Eireann has issued a Status Orange warning for heavy rainfall affecting 13 counties.

The warning, which kicks in at 4am tonight, affects counties Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, and Waterford.

According to the national forecaster, many areas of these counties might see heavy rainfall of up to 50mm.

The warning will remain in place until 8am on Sunday morning.
