The national forecaster has issued a Status Yellow alert for high winds covering five counties.
Some parts of counties Donegal, Sligo, Mayo, Galway, and Clare will be lashed by strong winds of up to 100km/h throughout Friday evening-night, and into Saturday morning.
The warning kicks in at 5pm today, and will remain in place until noon on Saturday.
