Met Eireann has issued a Status Yellow warning for heavy rain affecting seven counties.
The warning, which affects counties Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Cork, and Kerry, will remain in place until 3am on Saturday.
According to the national forecaster, drier but cooler weather will follow over the weekend.
