Met Eireann issues two weather warnings ahead of the arrival of Storm Ciara

Met Eireann has issued two weather warnings ahead of the arrival of Storm Ciara over the weekend.

The national forecaster has said that the weather system is likely to pass over northern areas during Saturday and Sunday, bringing heavy, blustery rain, with wind speeds of up to 110km/h.

A Status Yellow warning for strong winds will come into effect at 9am on Saturday, and will remain in place until midnight on Sunday.

The second warning is for heavy rainfall. It will kick in at 12pm on Saturday and remain in place until 3pm on Sunday.

Met Eireann is also warning of the strong possibility of coastal flooding throughout the weekend.
