The national forecaster has issued a Status Yellow weather warning for snow and ice for Co. Donegal, advising of the high likelihood of wintry showers over the next few days.
The warning will kick in at midnight on Friday and remain in effect until 12pm on Saturday.
Elsewhere, very poor weather conditions are expected in the run up to St. Patrick’s Day, and on the day itself. Heavy rain, sleet, and possibly snow flurries are possible on Friday night and into Saturday morning.
St. Patrick’s Day is expected bright but very cold, with the possibility of sleet and snow at times.
