Met Éireann have issued a yellow status rainfall warning as heavy showers are expected to spread from the south of the country this evening.
The warning which is applies to all of Munster and Leinster comes as accumulations of 25 to 40mm are expected overnight.
The national forecaster say the warning will remain in effect from 7pm this evening until 7am on Friday morning.
They added that localised flooding is expected some places.
