Ireland is currently experiencing what is probably its final warm period of the year, with atypically high temperatures for late November and early December. As the tallying begins in the general election, the forecast predicts temperatures may reach as high as 15C today, followed by slightly cooler highs of 13C tomorrow. These unseasonable temperatures are significantly above the typical December average of 5.6C, reports The Mirror.

Nevertheless, the mild weather is not expected to continue. Met Eireann warns of a notable drop in temperatures starting next week, with daytime highs falling to single digits and nighttime lows dipping below freezing, potentially reaching -1C, alongside frost and fog being likely. The drop in temperature will bring a combination of dry, sunny intervals and spells of rain.

Many people might be curious whether snow could accompany the upcoming cold spell. Met Eireann has dismissed the possibility of wintry weather, although weather models suggest a chance of light snow in northwestern regions on Tuesday, reports The Mirror.

Following a chilly beginning to the week, temperatures are projected to rise slightly – but this might come with complications. The national forecaster has indicated potential stormy conditions, mentioning, “Warnings cannot be ruled out at this stage, with sporadic strong winds also likely.”

Outlining the expected conditions day by day, Met Eireann stated: “Saturday will be mostly cloudy with light rain, drizzle, and mist moving in from the southwest this morning. More persistent rain will develop in the west and southwest later this afternoon, gradually spreading eastward across the country throughout the evening. It will be a mild day with peak temperatures ranging from 12C to 15C amidst fresh and gusty southerly winds, which will become strong in the west and south later. Rain will slowly clear from the east coast on Saturday night, leaving behind scattered showers and clear spells rolling in from the west. Minimum temperatures will range from 9C to 12C in moderate to fresh southwest winds,” reports The Mirror.
