Met Eireann is today saying that temperatures might rise to 30C and beyond by early next week.
According to the latest predictions, a mass of hot air will move above Ireland throughout the weekend, pushing temperatures to the high 20s on Saturday and Sunday, and possibly topping 30C by Monday.
Meanwhile, parts of the UK will be under heat alert as temperatures are expected to soar to the high 30s and likely into the low 40s for the first time ever.
