Met Eireann is today saying that the weather will improve from this afternoon on, and remain mild and pleasant for the coming Bank Holiday weekend.

There was heavy rain across many parts of the country on Thursday evening and overnight as Storm Evert just clipped Ireland, but the storm system is now moving away from us.

Temperatures will rise to 20C throughout the afternoon today, with some sunny spells breaking through at times.

The first half of Saturday will be rather dull, with frequent but isolated showers in the afternoon. Conditions will improve significantly by evening, with temperatures reaching 21C.

Early indications for Sunday and Monday show good, dry weather, with temperatures ‘average’ for the time of year.
