Met Eireann is this morning saying that the weather will remain mostly dry and settled for the next few days, but much colder temperatures are forecast for next week.

According to the national forecaster, daytime temperatures will remain in single digits up to and throughout the weekend, with little in the way of rain.

Things will take a turn for the worse from Monday onwards though, as cold air moves in over Ireland.

Monday and Tuesday are expected to be bitterly cold days, with the possibility of sleet and snow in parts.
