Met Eireann warn of heatwave as temperatures climb into mid-20s

Ireland is expected to experience a heatwave this week as temperatures climb into the mid-20s, reports Breaking News.

After a week marked by heavy rainfall across much of the country, the wet weather is expected to taper off by Sunday.

According to Met Éireann, Wednesday will be a “fine summers day” with lots of sunshine, reports Breaking News.

Conditions will remain dry, although some northern coastal areas might stay overcast for a time. Peak temperatures will range from 17 to 21 degrees, with light and variable winds.

Thursday is forecast to be warmer, bringing a blend of clouds and sunny intervals, reports Breaking News.

Some showers could form later in the day and during the night. Temperatures will peak between 18 and 23 degrees with moderate, occasionally fresh, winds from the south to southeast.

Friday is predicted to be warm and humid, with light breezes and spells of sunshine, along with a chance of a few isolated showers. Highs will again range from 18 to 23 degrees, reports Breaking News.

Speaking to Newstalk, Cathal Nolan from Ireland’s Weather Channel said: “We will see higher pressure building in from the south west initially, and then this high pressure is expected to sit just a little bit to the east of us as we go through the week.

“For the majority of the country it’s a drier, brighter week in store with some good sunshine developing,” reports Breaking News.

“And in that sun, with the winds coming from the south, the south easterly direction, it will start to feel much warmer as well, potentially even some hot weather by Thursday,” reports Breaking News.

Before the warmer conditions arrive, Monday will bring scattered rain and drizzle moving southeast across Ireland, gradually weakening.

Mist will also be present, with nighttime lows of 12 to 15 degrees and moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, reports Breaking News.

On Tuesday morning, patchy rain, drizzle, and mist will slowly clear towards the southeast.

The weather will then brighten from the west, with sunny intervals and a few showers along the coast. Temperatures will reach 16 to 20 degrees with mainly moderate westerly winds.

Tuesday night is expected to be mostly dry under clear skies, with some patches of mist or fog. Overnight lows will dip to between 7 and 10 degrees, as winds ease to light from the west, southwest, or vary in direction, reports Breaking News.
