Met Eireann is today warning of bitterly cold weather over the coming days as temperatures plummet to -5C.
According to the national forecaster, there will be widespread frost and ice formation, leading to hazardous walking and driving conditions.
The midlands are likely to experience the worst of the cold spell, which will last until Friday at least.
