Met Eireann is this evening warning of a cold spell starting over the coming hours and lasting throughout next week.
According to the national forecaster, thermometers will sink to 1C in places tonight, with widespread frost formation and misty conditions expected.
The next few days will bring very unsettled conditions, with frequent outbreaks of rain and daytime temperatures barely reaching double digits.
