Met Eireann is today warning of dire weather conditions for the coming weekend, with snow, thunderstorms, and freezing temperatures all in the mix.
The culprit is a mass of Arctic air currently moving over Ireland, which will cause lows of -4C at times.
Friday is expected to be a cold day featuring a mix of bright spells and showers, some of them wintry in nature, mostly across northern areas, and the possibility of isolated thunderstorms.
Saturday and Sunday are forecast to be bright but very cold days, with more wintry showers at times.
The outlook is for milder but changeable weather developing for the early part of next week.
